　　持戒是保證菩提心長遠的必要方法。我們要認識到嚴持戒律不僅僅是戒師的守則，戒律還是維持僧團的根本保障。當你的心還不夠清凈的時候，就需要通過戒律來嚴格約束行為。

　　Observing precepts is a necessary way to ensure the long-term development of bodhicitta （awakening mind）。 We must realize that strict observance of the precepts is not only the code of preceptors （upādhyāya in Sanskrit）， but also the fundamental guarantee for maintaining the Saṃgha. When your mind has not fully purified, you need to strictly control your behavior through precepts.
